Chasing dreams, not diamond rings

Be careful what you wish for... that's what I've always told myself. I still try... but in the face of a shitty job with okay money and a bad learning environment (other than learning how to get revenge on bitchy Administrative Assistants that give you no face though YOU ARE the Project Coordinator), there is nothing here for me in this job. On certain days I look at myself and think: This job has killed my ambition. I don't have the drive I used to. I used to love work, love life, love fun... but in the past couple of months I realized... that 1: money is not everything; 2: refer back to #1. Why was a career so important? Because the money is good? Because I will get that billion dollar house? Money does not mean happiness. I've had someone tell me this over and over again since I graduated... and yes, you are right (though I know you do not read this blog), I'm still admitting it. I don't want to come home all aggrivated and take it out on my family. I also don't want to be anti-social, or drink all the time b/c I just want to forget about the crap that happens at work and knock myself out...

I want a career... but I want someone to share it with. I want to be near my family and friends... but still, I want to go thru with my rebellious streak and still travel around the world. But if it means not seeing them every six months, it's not worth it.

Another crazy AWESOME weekend....

Every weekend seems to be better than the last... how interesting is that?! lol. Well, drunkie-mcdrunk is reporting about her weekend here on her blog. Let's start off with Friday. Fridayyy... I went downtown after work to see Farah (ex FSCO HR Bitch) and we just relaxed and what not, got some dinner and then got her friends who came from Hamilton to party. Lincoln came to join us shortly after and we predrank and went to the Distrikt. It was a really empty bar- let me tell u, I will not be going back :P The music was all dancey and there was not enough hip-hop, R&B or reggae- well at least I've been once :P [But I was very very drunk] We went back to Farah's rez and the next day I woke up at 8 AM to get ready for the wedding that was taking place at 2. I got to Union station and all that, got onto the train to get to Ajax and got there by around 10. It was crazy early, and my friends Dee and Laura came to get me with Kailey's dad (bride). We went and did a couple errands, got the hall set up and then went to the hotel to get ready for the ceremony.

Dee, Laura and I went together and the ceremony was short and sweet. Kailey looked INCREDIBLE. They looked so happy (though nervous) and they had the funniest kiss ever. They rarely show affection in public so it was really hard for them to kiss without looking awkward (Devin looked sloppy... hahahaha and Kailey's married to him hahahaha!) The 3 of us jetted out of there shortly and went to do some quick errands, went back to the hotel and then went to the reception hall. Everything looked amazing! The tables were all set up and all we had to do was put balloons up. There was punch and cheese for munching on and around 6, the dinner started. They served a fantastic salad, fettucini alfredo, chicken w/ tomato sauce, veggies & potatoes... and these amazing ice cream crepes for dessert. ... now... did I mention that it was an OPEN BAR??? Kailey and her dad did the traditional dance with one another, there were speeches and it was all a very beautiful wedding. They started taking requests for music and it was great- they even played BETTER music than what they played at Distrikt the night before ! Hahaha how ironic, eh?! BEST Song played: "Don't cha (wish ur girlfriend was HOT like me)"... lol I had a great time.. met some of Kailey's other uni friends and we all danced the night away. It was sooo bad though, I had about 10 screwdrivers and when I heard that the reason why the dj wasn't playing our songs [apparently he was trying to be all PG-13 on us when all the old folks had gone home anyway] I went up there and batted my eyes (this trick actually works, kids). So there was some Busta Rhymes, some Sean Paul in there :P We REALLY celebrated the wedding. and hahahahaha the best part was when we were all trying to go home... we had 6 people and we SQUISHED into the cab... 1 person in front, 3 sitting in the back and 2 lying right across. hahaha I was one of the ones lying right across and I couldn't STOP LAUGHING for the life of me. It was the most hilarious situation ever and we even took pictures to show for it. When we got to the motel, LAURA FELL OUT of the cab... it was SOOO funny. Mel went in there trying to look all sober and I fell to the floor laughing. We all made up upstairs and Dee, Laura and I got into our rooms and just laughed SOOO HARD for a good 10 mins. We visited the girls downstairs and then went to bed.

1st Lesson: Do not show off ur leg in response to someone who hiked their skirt up ... b/c the father of the bride is watching.....

2nd lesson: Buy a DRESS for the wedding... so u don't panic 2 days before a wedding about what to wear...

3rd Lesson: If u want to keep dancing at a PG13 level, do not have alcohol at ur wedding.

FRIDAY:
Link & Jules!!!

Farah & I...!!!

The Thumbnail used online for Distrikt's website hahahaha!

SATURDAY:

Their very very cute wedding cake!

Kailey... she looked GORGEOUS, eh???

Best pic of the night... Ohhh Collleeen... lol!!!

Not so PG 13....

Oh the Taxi Ride back...

Hey friends!!! Sorry, haven't felt like blogging for a while- afterall, there is nothing really going on in my life :)

Work is okay... well, not really. I had a huge meeting today with the Senior Management in attendance. The team I'm working with have been working on putting together material for this meeting for the past 3 weeks. I joined in and it was really good. Things got done in time, ideas were good... and I had to cut these HUGE pieces of packing paper and tape plastic sleeves (see-through file folders onto them)- 19 of them on each piece of packing paper- and I had to make over 16 of them. Needless to say, that took a lot of time. I also had to go according to the slide presentation and put project names and initiative information on them so the members in the meeting could have a visual for their meeting. We were supposed to move the pieces of paper from one pocket to another as the meeting went on (to determine if they were high, medium or low in importance)... I got to work at 7AM and went to set all this up in the room (we had to tape these huge pieces of paper onto the wall) and everything was good- the caterers came in on time with the food, etc... and then they started the meeting, and guess what?! They didn't like the idea of moving the projects from one wall to another to determine high/medium/low, and therefore, no attention was paid to the visuals... and that's 3 weeks of WORK. good times, good times. I had been joking w/ all my FSCO colleagues that I was the monkey coordinator... turns out it is a circus and everything I'd done in the past 3 weeks did not even make an impact. Such a waste of time... whatever... thus is life.

Well, nothing else is new... hahaha, I think I am still numb ... I'm not even angry. Wait till that happens :P

Anyways, this weekend: Friday night probably downtown to see my old colleague from FSCO (she's gone back to school like the rest of them) and hmm... Sat is Kailey and Devin's wedding so I'm off to Ajax! Sigh, so not ready for listening to "I do's" and "I love you's" I still don't have a present, card or a dress. ha. good one, Jules! lOl... thus is life as an adult... :O)

BREATHE- Anna Nalick Lyrics

2 AM and she calls me 'cause I'm still awake,
"Can you help me unravel my latest mistake?,
I don't love him. Winter just wasn't my season"
Yeah we walk through the doors, so accusing their eyes
Like they have any right at all to criticize,
Hypocrites. You're all here for the very same reason

'Cause you can't jump the track, we're like cars on a cable
And life's like an hourglass, glued to the table
No one can find the rewind button, girl.
So cradle your head in your hands
And breathe... just breathe,
Oh breathe, just breathe

May he turn 21 on the base at Fort Bliss
"Just a day" he said down to the flask in his fist,
"Ain't been sober, since maybe October of last year."
Here in town you can tell he's been down for a while,
But, my God, it's so beautiful when the boy smiles,
Wanna hold him. Maybe I'll just sing about it.

Cause you can't jump the track, we're like cars on a cable,
And life's like an hourglass, glued to the table.
No one can find the rewind button, boys,
So cradle your head in your hands,
And breathe... just breathe,
Oh breathe, just breathe

There's a light at each end of this tunnel,
You shout 'cause you're just as far in as you'll ever be out
And these mistakes you've made, you'll just make them again
If you only try turning around.

2 AM and I'm still awake, writing a song
If I get it all down on paper, it's no longer inside of me,
Threatening the life it belongs to
And I feel like I'm naked in front of the crowd
Cause these words are my diary, screaming out loud
And I know that you'll use them, however you want to

But you can't jump the track, we're like cars on a cable,
And life's like an hourglass, glued to the table
No one can find the rewind button now
Sing it if you understand.
and breathe, just breathe
woah breathe, just breathe,
Oh breathe, just breathe,
Oh breathe, just breathe.

What it's like to work for the government...

Imagine going to work on the first day of your contract extension and find that you can no longer log onto the network. It's FANTABOULOUS. JUST IMAGINE how happy I was after I got over how ridiculous the situation was. I really did miss my music and my internet, believe me. I sat around today doing almost nothing. Ok, so I read some office material, holepunched some stuff, had a coffee break, went for lunch, cut some paper for a presentation that's happening next week... it was a nice relaxing day... heheehe :)

This is what it's like to work for the government. If the paperwork's not done, nobody gets access. I guess it's fair, but ... it's going to take 2-5 working DAYS to get me back up on the network. I.M.A.G.I.N.E. But I'm going to enjoy my *free* (but paid) working time right now... cuz once I get access back, allll hell is going to break loose!

In other news: My sister went back to MAC for uni, and it's sad... this morning I woke up and didn't see her right leg dangling off the ledge of her bed and it was sad :( I even missed her grumpy morning face :P

Anyways... summer is OVER, eh??? I can't believe this. I wish it wasn't now... since everyone's gone back to studying I have to focus myself :P I miss everyone already, but I hope you're all having some fun getting ready for back to school :) Don't worry, Jules/Pokes will always visit. I'm sure you knew this even before you left Toronto. I hope when I do visit you won't get sick of me :P

GREAT NIGHT...

Hey everyone! I've been very busy, so I haven't updated the blog for a while. It's all good though, I have more things to tell you now :)

The week went by very stressfullly at work, but then that's the way work should be and eh. Everyone I got to know and was working with ended their contracts Friday, so it was sad, having to say goodbye to everyone and not knowing when we'd see each other again. One of my closest work friend Zahra was hard to say goodbye to. She was always at my desk seeing what was up (she was bored) and when she had interesting stuff to tell me :P I got really busy near the end of her contract though, so it was hard to make time and chat, but we did it anyway.

Next week when I go back, all the cubicles I used to frequent will be empty. I'd be much easier to get stuff done, but it'd be sad come lunch time... all my lunch buddies would be at home/getting ready for uni again.

Last night was AWESOME though. It was a friend's birthday and I didn't really want to go, but I wanted to see Nat and Cindy + birthday boy Clarence, so I asked my local friends and only Walid came w. But it was GREAT. We got there really early cuz everyone told me it was goign to be really really packed, so Walid and I were in the parking lot BY 10. hahahaa we got into the line and met up w/ some uni friends (CINDY) and got into the club... headed to the bars :) I had so much fun talking to everyone! We were w/ some of Nat's friends from uni so it was really good... well, that and I was really smashed. By the time Nat saw me I already had 2 and was talking like an idiot. Cindy, Walid and I danced the night away and intermittently found random ppl who was w/ the group. I barely saw Nat though, but that's just normal :P BTW, the music was amazing... and honestly, usually I remember everything that happens at the club cuz I have this weird photographic memory when I'm drunk... but man, last night was DIFFERENT. I don't even remember what I said to some people and when I saw them, etc... I don't remember the songs I danced to, I couldn't walk in my heels (ABNORMAL) and by the end of the night I was SLURRING. I never slur!!! and omg I called someone when I was really really drunk and that... was just so bad cuz I think I embarrassed myself with some of the things I said but surprisingly don't really care right now haahahahaa! BTW: Walid, Cindy and Nat r the best !!!!!!!! Walid babysat me all night hahahaa... good thing I bought him all his drinks to make up for it :P

NEWAYS, fun times with all- great seeing everyone... and to everyone who expressed their dislike for their current life to me last night: I fully understand how you feel... been there, done that... but remember to smile. U're all only 22+... we have a full life ahead to fix whatever that's not working now. Love you all, I had great fun w/ all of you :) and I hope when I see you next time, you'll all be happier.
